Common Ratio - HD-Dreams

Record: 2012 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1207.0068
Avantgarde, Noise, Experimental

Waiting for the opening of the subway. Phantasmagoria with electric swamp and its mechanical residents, neon forest and haze where it is so easy to get lost. A ball of urban weekdays. Pathos of the authorities and poverty in homes. Mass migration. Prostration. Arizona desert, dust in the eyes. Average European July in the eastern traditions of Zen. Indulging in free and unpredictable, but clever improvisations, the author creates a gallery of abstract shapes, as elusive and ethereal as dreams.

Ignoring inner voice may throw you in the search that results in a false identity which is the alloy of others' thoughts. You should trust your essence, accepting an attitude of things and your internal beauty. Express the passion with the deepest sense. Crush the illusions made by malevolent persons, chasing a minute benefit. Everyone has a his own view on how to make the life. Everybody lives.

Mr. Gaus - Cutting Edge

Record: 2009 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1205.0057
Ambient, Industrial

Step by step goes the time. Cog beats cog is a turn. Be on the bleeding edge of a progress or be a cogwheel if you want. Not possible to catch a moment - you think while it's gone. Hold the pulse for an instant to comprehend. See the wonders with your eyes on the run. Take the bliss - nobody would do this for you. Optimum is maximum at a minimum. Don't take much - take the whole. Don't stay long - better go. Get it fast - this is how.

Ptarkh - Dark Position

Record: 2011 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1205.0054
Dark Ambient, Industrial

Rustle of broken branches and fallen leaves, whisper of sad spirits, near and distant noises come along with you in the endless walk through the land of the dead. Abandoned mechanical structures corrode under the rain. Murmurous streams run under heavy-clouded skies. Only the sound of heartbeat binds the stranger with the world of living, but soon the inevitable darkness absorbs it without a trace.

WMRI - Wires

Record: 2009 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1204.0044
Space, Experimental

The fourth EP in Black Concept Series of six. A journey among the wires through an empty atmosphere of a destroyed city. Repeating rhythm, noise washes, minor pads and light arps - everything makes a cold feel of wasted land where you are in solitude. But the music is not monotonous - it is dynamic, very fascinating and totally preoccupies and makes you follow till the end.

WMRI - Emission Spectrum

Record: 2009 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1204.0043
Ambient, Space, Experimental

The third EP in Black Concept Series of six. First and second parts are very experimental ambient current, rather strange and anxious. Pulsing low sounds and morphing high tunes create images of cosmic radiations. Finally they smoothly flow into the third part Warping Cells which is a clear synth track with noise washes and general melancholic atmosphere. Food for those who like an experimental touch in ambient music.

Common Ratio - No

Record: 2012 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1204.0039
No Wave, Noise Rock, Indie Rock, IDM

In the 70s in New York an avant-garde and independent cultural trend of No Wave appeared. It was some kind of a response to New Wave that was popular in that time. Inspired by those guys with their radical views on art, the author attempts to create a local reincarnation of No Wave in contemporary electronic music. This is primarily a revolt, not a familiar pure art aimed at the creation of beauty. It is pretty loud and aggressive music, impregnated with the spirit of freedom.

WMRI - Shelter

Record: 2008 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1203.0032
Dark Ambient, Industrial

The album dark as the night. It is separated into two parts. First part consists of four drifting and droning tracks fading each other. Second part consists of a long complex track and shorter track that's actually a Shelter main theme. While first part is mostly based around deep low drones, surrounding sounds and minimal, except a noisy drone piece in the end, the second part is based on industrial echoes, longer piece starts with some even melodic theme and moves towards to the emotionless drift with minor drone beats and for the second section the far bell sounds appear. Shelter theme is a separate topic for discussion as it's a complete scene of factory interior: hammer-like drone beats and noise splashes give the unique feeling of a safe and dangerous place at once. The idea of noise splashes was later used once again in Wires.

sokpb avabodha - Реквием по аналоговому сигналу (Requiem for an Analogue Signal)

Record: 2009 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1203.0030
Experimental, Dark Ambient, Noise

Improvisation recorded in real time with no further processing. Very experimental record researching the stages of signal processing, moving from noise to dark drones. These soundscapes are getting more mysterious as the processing goes. The last part of the title composition gets completely twisted with effects featuring the harrowing screams of some abstract creatures.

One Day of February - The City of Devils

Record: 2011 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1203.0027
Breakbeat, Dubstep, Experimental

The fiery twilight falls upon the streets and you get trapped between these walls. A melancholic symphony for urban landscapes, a mascarade of violence and a triumph of evil. Suffocating sense of despair creeps into your soul. It is soaked into your mind and you untimely become just a tarnished shadow on a plane canvas.

Holzweg - The Birds

Record: 2007 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1202-0022
Ambient, Modern Classical, New Age

This album of Holzweg combines melodic electronic music with chillout and new age moods. Dreamy and light compositions draw images of a morning city covered with shining haze in sunrise. Slow parts of music evoke a sense of thoughtful tranquility, and more dynamic tunes transform it into waiting of a new day, full of experiences, but not fussy. Run of time seems to slow down to allow us to feel and to see all beauty and majesty of this world.

Ptarkh - Страх (Fear)

Record: 2010 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1202.0019
Dark Ambient, Industrial, Noise

This play tells that the world has become at the brink of nuclear war, deterrence was the general practice, however some missiles have reached their targets. The greater part of the narration is the track UnAmerica, which opens a technogenic zone of high radiation in front of us. It is an image of processes destructing every life and non-organic substance. It is an energy evaporating everything it influences. Sole survivors hopelessly force through infected zones searching for a little isle of life. It is a deadly harvest of mankind progress... and there is nothing left but fear.

Secret Keys - In the City of Clouds

Record: 2009 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1202.0016
Modern Classical, Ambient

Sparkling minimalism of keys tells for itself and paints amusing pictures. They are made in two moods: light as an airy marshmallow or chilly wind and gloomy as evil thoughts or sudden storm clouds. The light part flashes in positive cheer and sustains the calm and monotonous atmosphere. When the darker side bursts the change in a perception is evident. The music can sound loud and solemn in an empty room, as an enigmatic ritual, dismal in times it forces you glance around for a moment. It is great soundtrack for a day with pressure drops, unsettled weather and mood swings. But this fragile obsession may over if you just pull the plug falling out into the reality

Common Ratio - Clubbing Outside

Record: 2011 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1201.0013
IDM, Dubstep, Experimental

Nuclear mix of all genres and styles that influenced Common Ratio sound is used here as a refund for all taken moves and ideas. Tracks go one after another drawing the somber urban sketches of gray American life. And then our look rises to the height from the dirty street. Flocculent clouds are flowing in dull sky. Occasional birds appear from every quarter and dive into the muddy stratosphere soup making steep turns. They see the beauty of precise architecture from such an altitude and we are morally with them - this is magnificent!

WMRI - Dark Passage

Record: 2009 • Edition: 2012 • USC-WR-1201.0006
Dark Ambient, Experimental

Imagine a dark corridor. Have you? It could have lamps of course, but the light doesn't even reach the floor, it's covered with darkness. Do you fear this situation? And if does the exit disappear at once, like it never existed? Corridor is prolonging both sides, its length - infinity. The darkness gorges the remainder of dimmed light until only the dark corridor is left. And hey, what's the rustling up there?
